How does the SystemTamer work? The SystemTamer monitors the power used by any device plugged into the Master plug. As power usage changes for the Master plug, the SystemTamer either supplies power to the 3 switched outlets or stops power delivery to the 3 switched outlets. Using a battery backup with the SystemTamer99.9% of all main power outages that can cause your computer to reboot and loose data last less than 5 seconds. A battery backup system will eliminate this frustrating reboot. To use a battery backup with the SystemTamer is as simple as plugging your fully charged battery backup system into the master position on the SystemTamer and your computer into the battery backup. On the rare occasion where power will be down for an extended period of time unplug your monitor from the switched side of the SystemTamer and plug into the battery backup. Use this extended time to save the items you are working on and shut down your computer until power is restored. Reinstall the power cord to your monitor back to its original position on the SystemTamer.

Surge suppressor for the SystemTamerPower surges are rare but they do occur. If you are in the need of a surge suppressor Walmart has a $7.89 wall mounted 6 way unit that is compatible with the SystemTamer. Look for this Phillips unit in the home electronics department. It converts a 2 position duplex outlet into a 6 position surge protected outlet. Your SystemTamer plugs directly into this unit and works as always. We can provide at no charge to SystemTamer owners a longer center screw to secure both units to the wall outlet at the same time.
